Transfer Applicants
Overview
Applicants for admission to Stern College for Women, Syms School of Business or Yeshiva College as transfer students from other colleges and universities.
Criteria
- Students with 29 or less earned post-secondary credits are required to submit their High School Transcript and College Transcript.
- Students with 30 or more earned post-secondary credits are required to submit their College Transcript. The credits must be post-secondary credits earned at an accredited college or university. Israel credits are not counted towards this policy.
How to Apply
For the application to be processed, transfer applicants are required to submit the following items:
- Completed Application
Applicants can begin by creating an account. This will give them access to their personal application portal where they will be able to submit their admissions application. Once the application has been submitted, the supplemental application requirements will populate based on the applicant’s admission type. The applicant will be prompted to upload their essay and a list of their extracurricular activities or resume. The applicant will also be able to provide the names and contact information of recommenders, who will receive a link to their e-mail to upload their letters of recommendation directly into the application system. The applicant’s high school transcripts must be sent directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by their high school administration. Transfer applicants must have their official college transcripts sent directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by the granting institution. The ACT/SAT is not required for general admission but if submitted the applicant’s ACT/SAT official score report must be sent directly to the Office of Admissions by the testing service. Finally, every applicant requires an interview. Please contact yuadmit@yu.edu to schedule an interview. Schedule an interview takes a holistic approach in reviewing an applicant’s candidacy. The interview allows the Admissions officer to meet all applicants and get to know them outside of their application.
Newly admitted students can have their college courses taken during high school count towards their undergraduate degree.
Transfer students may apply to participate in the Honors Program once they are on campus but are not eligible for academic scholarship.
Important note: Students admitted on or after Fall 2024 will not be awarded transfer credit for experiential learning, including military service.
Transfer High School Course Policy
Students who have successfully passed college-level courses
Effective Fall 2021, undergraduate students who have successfully passed college-level courses while enrolled in high school may be eligible to have these credits applied toward their undergraduate program. • Evaluation of these courses will be based on official college transcripts received by during the student’s admissions process. (Unofficial transcripts, HS transcripts noting college credit or official transcripts provided after the start of the student’s first semester will not be considered.) • The course(s) must be documented in the issuing college/university’s academic catalog.
Conditions:
o A maximum of nine (9) credits may count as general electives or towards an equivalent course to students entering any of ’s Bachelor’s degree programs faculty. o A maximum of six (6) credits may count as general electives or towards an equivalent course to students pursuing an Associate’s degree in the Katz School of Science and Health. o The course(s) would be considered as transfer credits and subject to all applicable policies pertaining to the application of transfer credit. o Only courses with earned grades of B- or better will be considered. o Students must provide course syllabi for each course for which they are requesting transfer credit. o Grades would not be calculated as a part of the student’s cumulative institutional grade point average unless they are courses delivered by . o These courses would not count towards any residency requirements. o This policy is effective immediately for students beginning at during the fall 2021 semester and will be re-evaluated on an annual basis.
Student Responsibilities:
o Provide official transcripts from each institution issuing credit during admissions process o Provide course syllabi for each course for which they are requesting credit.
Credit Transfer Process
Transfer applicants who request courses previously taken to be evaluated for possible transfer, or request pre-approval for courses they plan to to take, must submit the following documents. ( will only evaluate transcripts and syllabi for credit after applicants have been accepted).
- Official college transcript with course numbers and final grades (for courses already completed at another institution)
- Full syllabus in PDF format for each outside college course to be evaluated

Previously Admitted Transfer Applicants
If you were previously admitted to and declined admission to attend a different institution, and are NOT transferring credits, you need to complete a Reapplication Form on the . Students who wish to transfer credits from another college, regardless of whether or not you have been accepted, need to complete a new .
