Our MSW Certificates will enhance your career in areas such as the Trama Informed Practice. Earn a certificate in Palliative Care, School and Child Welfare Practice, and more. Additional scholarships may be available.

Accepted MSW students enter a path to earning a degree from a top NYC University with the option to discover their passion by concentrating their studies and field work in a specific area of social work. Wurzweiler issues certificates upon graduation in recognition of completed requirements of a particular course of study. Pursuing a certificate is optional.

Certificates for MSW Students

Joint MSW/CASAC: For students passionate about understanding people with addictive disorders and helping them work through the challenge of healing and recovering. Earn both your MSW (leading to the LCSW) and also become a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor.
Type of Placements: addiction clinics, rehabilitation centers, mental health centers, hospitals, psychiatry practices

Gerontology & Palliative Care: For students passionate about enhancing life for the elderly or those with life-threatening illnesses. Learn more about the field and our specialization program.
Type of Placements: Hospice, hospital, long-term care facility, community agency primarily focusing on the service needs and/or clinical issues of individuals (of any age) and families facing advanced, serious illnes

School Social Work Practice: For students who would like to focus on working in educational settings. 
Type of Placements: Schools and school-based programs

Creative Arts and Healing: Geared towards students who would like to incorporate the arts in direct clinical practice.  
Type of Placements: Schools, hospitals, mental health clinics, substance abuse treatment facilities, care homes, rehabilitation, hospice work 

Trauma Informed Practice: For students interested in direct clinical practice with clients who have been impacted by various types of trauma. 
Type of Placements: Military services, mental health clinics, substance abuse treatment facilities, rehabilitation, hospitals, schools

Social Work Practice with the Military: Designed for students who would like to work with military personnel, military families, and veterans. 
Type of Placements: Military bases, Veterans Administration (VA) services, VA hospitals, mental health clinics, substance abuse treatment facilities, rehabilitation, and care homes
