Wednesdays: 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

This course, we will explore some fundamental questions about our Oral Tradition: What is the Torah she’baal peh? Why is it
important, and how are we meant to relate to it? We will delve into Talmudic text, building familiarity with its layout and structure and
engaging in the rich conversations and debates that make up our mesorah. This course will particularly focus on Masechet Berachot.

Tanach: Clothing in the Bible with Dr. Michelle Levine

This course will analyze the symbolical role of clothing in narrative and legal contexts of Tanach. Our discussion will explore how
clothing serves to advance the plot of biblical narrative; highlights the relationships between biblical figures; and plays a role in
defining the status of prominent individuals in Tanach. Among the topics we will study are the first time clothing is introduced into the
Torah; the importance of Yosef's ketonet passim; the garments of the Kohen; the prophet Shmuel's cloak; clothing in Megillat Esther.
