Your student status and registration time is based on PREVIOUSLY COMPLETED classes. It does not matter if you are taking 0 credits this semester, or 100, it will not impact your registration time. To see how many credits you have completed, please look at your academic transcript. You can find it by doing the following:

  1. Login to My
  2. Click on the student tab
  3. Click on “student records”
  4. Click on “academic transcript
  5. Look towards the bottom of the page, right before the current semester info.
  6. The number under “passed hours” is your total completed credits

  • Upper Seniors U8: 111 or more credits completed 
  • Lower Seniors U7: 94-110.5 credits completed 
  • Upper Juniors U6: 78-93.5 credits completed 
  • Lower Juniors U5: 60-77.5 credits completed 
  • Upper Sophomores U4: 45-59.5 credits completed 
  • Lower Sophomores U3: 27-44.5 credits completed 
  • Upper Freshmen U2: 12-26.5 credits completed 
  • Lower Freshmen U1: 0-11.5 credits completed 

Please note, all outstanding outside transfer credit requests (including Israel Seminary credits, AP credits, Jerusalem Exams, summer courses etc.) will not be processed during the registration period. To allow time for processing, please have all your transcripts submitted early.

You might be a student who enters college with a clear idea of academic and career goals and knowing which major is the right one for you. Perhaps you are having difficulty deciding on a major because you find so many subjects interesting and cannot decide which one to pursue.

At the Sy Syms school of Business, we have several resources to help you make this decision. All of the Academic Advisors are able to discuss these important issues with you. In addition, the staff of the Career Center can help you choose a major and understand its relationship to career choice. They offer individual counseling, vocational testing, a career library, guidance using internet research as well as internship development. For the Midtown Campus, you may visit the Career Center at 215 Lexington Avenue, 5th floor. At the Wilf campus, you may visit the Career Center in Furst Hall, suite 413.

The Academic Advisement Center and the Career Center have a variety of material designed to help you through the process of choosing a major. 

Navigate to the "Resources" page and look under "Programs of Study". Each semester the course schedule is posted online. The course schedule indicates which requirement the course fulfills. If you have any questions, please be sure to contact an academic advisor.

Yes. All summer school courses must be approved prior to the start of the course(s).You may take up to 9 credits over the entire summer session. 

To take a course at , please fill out a registration form and bring it to an Academic Advisor for a signature. Once signed you will be able to bring it to student finance and the registrar’s office to formally register for the course. 

To take a summer course outside of , the course must first be approved. Please contact symsadvising@yu.edu for instructions on course approval. 

Once approved, please fill out the Request for Outside Courses form, also known as the P-10 form, which is available in the Registrar's Office or can be downloaded from the Registrar's website. Please read the regulations and procedures carefully. 

In order to earn a degree from Yeshiva College, at least 60 percent of your major and minor, and at least 84 credits and 6 semesters must be completed at our New York campus. Transfer students and Midtown students who have studied in Israel for more than one academic year should meet with an Academic Advisor.

Yes, you may select one course each semester to be graded Pass (P) or No Credit (N) subject to the following conditions:

  • No more than one course each semester may be selected
  • P/N grades do not count towards any requirement (Business Core, Business Electives, Communication Courses, Humanities, Jewish CORE, Jewish Studies, Quantitative, Social and Natural Science, MAJOR or MINOR classes)
  • Courses taken with a P/N grade do help fulfill the residency requirement and go towards the 128 credits needed to graduate

The appropriate form must be filed during the period specified in the Academic Calendar. Please read through the P/N form carefully so that you fully understand all of the terms and conditions.

Audits are permitted only after registration has been completed and only if there is space available in the course. An audited course is not considered part of your workload. The regulations regarding auditing courses are on the Request to Audit a Course form. Please read the regulations carefully, complete the form including the instructor's signature, and return the form to the Registrar's Office.

The junior/senior check is your opportunity to meet with an Academic Advisor to review the requirements you have already completed and identify the requirements you have yet to complete. The Academic Advisor will review your complete transcript with you to ensure that you are on track to complete all graduation requirements. We recommend that you have a junior check in the spring of your junior year and a senior check in the fall of your senior year.

You may drop a course online without permission and without a "W" on your transcript until the drop date noted on each semester's calendar. After that date you need permission from a Dean or an Academic Advisor and the withdrawal will be noted on your transcript with a "W."  Students may withdraw from classes with permission and with a "W", only until the last day of classes, prior to the final. The "W" notation will appear on your transcript and indicates withdrawal without penalty or prejudice, so it will not affect your GPA.

We recommend that you meet with an Academic Advisor before dropping a class.

Any outside courses taken while you are a student at Yeshiva College requires completion of the P-10 form. For courses taken before you were a YC student, have an official transcript sent to the Office of the Registrar from the school you attended. 

Students may count a maximum of 4 online courses towards their undergraduate degrees. A maximum two online courses may be applied toward the major and a maximum of two online courses may apply toward the General Education Requirements

At the Midtown campus, full time students may take a maximum of 7 classes, including Jewish Studies Core. Students who take below 12 credits are at risk for academic probation, loss of scholarship and/or financial aid, student housing and university health insurance. For this reason it is extremely important to always meet with an academic advisor before dropping a class from your schedule.

At the Wilf campus, in the afternoon program, full time students must take a minimum of 12 or a maximum of 17.5 credits. Students who take below 12 credits are at risk for academic probation, loss of scholarship and/or financial aid, student housing and university health insurance. For this reason it is extremely important to always meet with an academic advisor before dropping a class from your schedule. 

  • You need 128 credits to graduate 
  • 84 out of the 128 must be taken on our New York campus (we call these residential credits).
  • All Business Core courses, as well as 60% of your major and minor, must be completed at . 

The credits you received from your Israel Program count towards the 128 credits needed to graduate. They are simply viewed as elective credits, and do not fulfill any of your 84 residential credits. Midtown students who have completed more than one year of study in Israel should consult with an Academic Advisor. 

  • When the cumulative index of your morning program are transferred to your college record/ afternoon transcript. 
  • They appear on your afternoon transcript as, “HES.”
  • These credits can only help fulfill the 84 residential credits, as well as the 128 needed to graduate
