EL AL and Take Torah to the Skies

Torah offered for in-flight use for first time since 2003 launch

 

NEW YORK – February 1, 2024 - , the flagship Jewish university, is bringing Torah to passengers of EL AL, the Israeli National Airline. Recently launched in early 2024, travelers currently have the opportunity to listen to audio recordings of Torah, which debuted as an online platform of Torah study more than 20 years ago.

Since the war began on October 7, EL AL has transported travelers to and from Israel flying with a great sense of purpose and mission - including IDF reservists flying home to active duty – Torah’s high-level content will enrich the travel experience for EL AL’s passengers.

EL AL travelers now have inflight access to shiurim (classes) from ’s preeminent Torah personalities, Rebbeim, scholars and educators. The shiurim will be updated every four to six weeks, with content relevant to the time of year and the upcoming Jewish holidays.

The broadcasts will include discussions on Halacha (Jewish law), Jewish history, Tefillah (Jewish prayer), dating and marriage, parenting and Parsha (weekly Torah portion); and feature a wide range of notable -affiliated speakers, such as President Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman, Rabbi Aryeh Lebowitz, Rabbi Dr. Jacob J. Schacter, Rabbi Menachem Penner, Rabbi Meir Goldwicht, Dr. David Pelcovitz, Dr. Rona Novick, Rabbi Hershel Schachter, Rabbi Assaf Bednarsh, and Dr. Nechama Price.

Torah was the first major Torah online platform and has continued to provide the largest range and scale of Torah offerings in the world. Since launching in 2003, Torah has recorded 350,000 classes and counting, featured 3,500 speakers and is visited by 2.5 million learners annually.
